RTR Accountant
The R2R Accountant is responsible for performing key activities within the record-to-report process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, supporting month-end closing, and collaborating across teams to drive compliance and process improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in general ledger accounting within an ERP environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post standard, recurring, and adjusting journal entries (e.g. accruals, prepaids, reclasses).
Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve open items.
Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate results.
Analyze P&L and balance sheet variances and provide explanations for significant movements.
Maintain and update the chart of accounts and support master data integrity.
Record and reconcile intercompany transactions and work on eliminations.
Support fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, disposals, and depreciation.
Assist in ensuring compliance with accounting policies (e.g., US GAAP/IFRS/local GAAP) and internal controls.
Provide audit support by preparing documentation and responding to auditor queries.
Identify and participate in process improvements to optimize R2R activities.
Collaborate with AP, AR, Tax, and other finance teams for accurate reporting and reconciliations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certification preferred (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA) but not required.
2–5 years of relevant experience in general ledger or record-to-report accounting.
Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP/IFRS/local GAAP).
Proficiency with accounting systems or ERP platforms (such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to work in cross-functional teams.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in a shared services or multinational company is a plus.
