Associate Market Access Director – International Markets
This is an opportunity to shape market access strategies across international markets and influence how innovative medical products reach patients. You will play a central role in connecting global evidence, local market needs, partner capabilities and commercial priorities.
With significant autonomy and broad cross-functional exposure, you will lead high-impact access processes and launches while helping to embed market access considerations early in R&D, partnerships and portfolio planning.
About the Role
As Associate Market Access Director – International Markets you will lead market access strategy and execution across international markets. You will provide strong indirect leadership across functions, affiliates and external partners when leading processes, building alignment and driving launches with a high degree of autonomy.
You will join the global Market Access team and report directly to the Head of Market Access.
This is a highly influential role for an experienced market access professional working across international markets. You will translate clinical and economic evidence into country-specific access strategies, lead market access processes and product launches, and ensure that payer, HTA and local market requirements are reflected in global development and commercial planning.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Evidence-to-Access Translation: Translate global CVD evidence and value propositions into country-specific market access strategies for affiliates and partners. Define the additional evidence, HEOR, real-world evidence and dossier requirements needed to secure access and support optimal pricing, taking international reference pricing into account. Identify evidence gaps and provide early market access input into R&D, evidence generation, portfolio planning and partnerships.
Portfolio Prioritisation: Assess market access complexity and commercial opportunity across therapeutic areas and international geographies. Prioritise markets, launch and evidence-generation activities where access needs and business value are greatest. Recommend appropriate allocation of market access resources and strategic attention across the portfolio.
Product Launches and Partner Markets: Lead market access planning and execution for medical product launches across international markets. Work effectively within partner-led operating models, aligning affiliates, licensees, distributors and other external partners around access strategies, responsibilities and milestones. Monitor launch readiness, identify access risks and drive timely resolution of market-specific barriers.
Payer and HTA Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with payers, HTA bodies and other relevant external stakeholders. Develop market-specific engagement strategies and incorporate payer and HTA insights into evidence and access planning. Anticipate access challenges and develop practical strategies to support reimbursement and appropriate pricing.
Cross-Functional and Indirect Leadership: Act as the interface between global functions, international markets and external partners, ensuring effective two-way communication and alignment. Lead market access processes and launches through influence, without direct line-management responsibility. Collaborate with MAPA, therapeutic area teams, R&D, Business Development, medical, commercial and other functions to deliver shared objectives with a high degree of autonomy.
About You
You are an experienced, strategic and commercially minded market access leader who can operate independently in a complex international environment. You bring strong expertise in translating evidence into access outcomes and have the confidence to lead through influence across functions, countries and partner organisations.
Experience and Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in market access, pricing, HEOR, health economics, HTA or a related discipline, with significant experience across international markets.
Proven track record of successfully supporting or leading medical product launches from a market access perspective.
Experience working in partner-led operating models, including collaboration with licensees, distributors, affiliates and other external organisations.
Master’s degree in natural sciences or a closely related discipline.
Strong understanding of payer, HTA, pricing and reimbursement environments, including global-to-local evidence adaptation, HEOR, real-world evidence, country-specific requirements and international reference pricing.
Personal Capabilities:
Proven ability to lead cross-functional processes and launches through indirect leadership, without direct line-management responsibility.
Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, accountability and ownership in complex international environments.
Strong influencing, stakeholder-management, communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, payers, HTA bodies and external partners.
Strategic and pragmatic thinker who can connect global objectives with local market realities and develop practical, solutions-oriented approaches.
Collaborative and culturally aware, with the ability to work effectively across functions, geographies, organisational boundaries and partner networks.
